John G. Thompson II was quite literally born into the oil business.

His Great Grandfather, Hank Hankins, was a wildcatter in the 1950's, 1960's and 1970's. He bought and sold mineral estates all over the State of Texas. Hank Hankins was such a prolific wildcatter that he actually sold acreage to the Bass family for whom most of downtown Fort Worth is named.

His Grandfather, John G. Thompson, for whom John was named, was a wildcatter in the 1970's and 1980's. John senior bought and sold mineral estates and financed several wells. There are wells named after John senior and John's grandmother Rita in Taylor County Texas. It was considered an homage to what he accomplished getting those wells up and going.

John's father, Glenn Thompson, owns and operates Thompson Company Oil and Gas LLC after starting his career as a landman.

In his role as Assistant Executive Consultant to the owner, John Glenn Thompson II is very active in the day to day decisions of Thompson Company Oil and Gas. He often finds himself learning daily, the ins and outs of the oil business from his father.

When not at work you will find John hard at play in the yard. Watching Mickey Mouse Funhouse, or riding the golf cart with his parents to go look at airplanes.
